浪人屋 / rōnin-ya / the house of masterless creators

A small crew of creators who make quick, fun things. Apps, games, odd little experiments. Nobody assigns the work. We pick it, build it and ship it.

The name

A rōnin serves no master. A house gives them a place to gather.

In feudal Japan, a rōnin was a samurai without a lord, free to wander and choose their own fights. Today the word also describes people who work on their own terms. Ronin Ya is where a few of them meet to make things together.

A place where a craft is practiced. Sushi-ya, hon-ya, and now rōnin-ya.

How we work

Three rules, loosely held.

速Small and fast

A project should fit into a few evenings or a weekend. If it needs a roadmap, it is probably too big for now.

遊Play comes first

We build what is fun to build. If it turns out to be useful too, even better.

出Ship it

Unfinished ideas stay in the drawer. Whatever we make goes out into the world, rough edges and all.

The first builds are on the bench.

This is where finished projects will show up. For now the house is just opening its doors.
